Introduction of the option
Update 1.104.0 released on October 4, 2012 added the support for 动态阴影 to the game:
Thanks to this feature, various objects on 地图 (buildings, fences, trees, 坦克, etc.) can now cast 阴影. Even the 炮塔 of a 坦克 drops a shadow on the 底盘.
动态阴影 can be enabled only with hardware acceleration on Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Enabling the option
Depending on the performance of your PC you can enable and disable this function in设置. Don't forget to switch on hardware acceleration.
Interesting facts
During the celebration of Halloween 2012, a 特殊地图 was added to the game. Apart from 特殊 attributes (dark skybox, ghosts, 南瓜, tombstones, pictures of skulls on the walls and music), the 地图 had a 夜晚模式. However, the 夜晚模式 was only working when 动态阴影 were enabled. Here is a video made by NBAHbI4, showing the 地图:
